French teacher is facing a jail term after she was caught teaching English to students at a preparatory school in the Paris region.
In a statement on Sunday, the National Assembly said it had summoned Jean-Marie-Sophie Proust for questioning on charges of teaching a French course in a public school, which would have been part of the preparation course for the National Education Act, which came into effect on April 1.
French prosecutors say Ms Prouster, who was a professor at a Paris school until she left for the Netherlands in March, was accused of encouraging students to take a preparative course and using their own money to pay for it.
French news agency AFP reported that a police source told AFP that Ms Pousts home in the city of Paris was searched by police on Sunday night after the French police agency said they were searching for her.AFP news agency said police also raided the Prousts home, but there were no further details.
Ms Prousters lawyer, Pauline Bouchaud, said her client had been “shocked” by the allegations.
“I would like to thank my client for the opportunity to meet the investigators, but this is a matter for the prosecution, who are in charge of it,” Ms Bouchaux said in a statement.
